A Retreat to the South of France

A Few Days A La Campagne

Earlier this week a friend of mine invited me to spend a few days in the countryside in the South of France. If you guys follow me on Instagram then you’ve probably seen a lot of the snaps I shared of my trip on my stories. After going through the photos since my return to Paris, I realise I had a lot more to share than I originally thought so today’s blogpost is all about sharing some vibes from the French countryside.

It’s so funny how different France is once you leave Paris. Often when I travel within its borders I don’t even have the impression that I’m in the same country anymore. There are so many amazing things to discover just by hopping on a train and abandoning the city for a few days.

The area I visited was near a small village called Prendeignes but because we were staying in a house in the middle of the countryside the whole experience felt very isolated yet very peaceful.

While there wasn’t a whole lot of grand monuments or excitement, the landscape was really breathtaking and it felt great to spend some time outdoors.

On the second day there we went on a really long hike. I know that in the photo here I definitely am dressed for anything in the world but a hike but the decision to turn our “petite balade” into a three hour journey over hills and forests and across rivers was a really spontaneous one.

We passed a lot of beautiful things on the way and it was really pleasant taking in the beauty of the landscape.

Deep in the forest the colours were so green and ethereal. It reminded me a lot of being in Ireland again.

We visited a small city called Figeac while we were there. The narrow cobbled streets combined with the typical french windows made for a really charming sight. I would have loved to have had more time to wander around and explore the town because it really was so unique and unlike anywhere else in France I had seen before.

And that’s it for my trip to the south. Though it was short, it was really sweet and relaxing.

Now I’m back in Paris for a few days preparing to jet off again, this timeย to Portugal.

What have you guys been up to so far this summer? I’d love to hear all about it in the comments below!

That’s all from me for now. Thank you so much for reading and I’ll see you again very soon.
